Impact Generation started as a student group in the University of Ghana in 2009. It was registered as a non-governmental organization on 15th April, 2009 at the Registrar General's Department of Ghana with registration number, G-27,777 but operated as a student group until 2011 when it begun operating as a youth-led non-governmental organization.

The organization has also been registered with the National Youth Council in 2011 and the Social Welfare Department of Ghana- D.S.W/ 5349 in 2012.

The organization has been able to function well with little financial support but have acquired lot of other resources through the help of many individuals and  few organizations. The organization has made very significant strives within a very short period of time.

If given the necessary financial support, the organization will be able to do much more to help young people.
